From 1977 Researcher, and from 1986, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Floriculture Research in Palermo. From 1995 to 2007 Officer in Charge, and then Director of the same Institute. From 9 August 2007 Director of C.R.A Unità di Ricerca per il Recupero e la Valorizzazione delle Specie Floricole Mediterranee (Research Unit for the Recovery and Development of Mediterranean Floral Species) Palermo.He is currently General Coordinator of the three year project, Development of Mediterranean Floral Species (PRO.FLO.MER) of the Mi.P.A.F.- Development Programme for Southern Italy: Research and Technological Innovation. He is a member of the Mediterranean Plants Work Group of the S.O.I. and author of more than 150 scientific publications in national and international journals. He has coordinated and organised numerous scientific and technical conferences of national and international standing, seminars, and reported to numerous scientific and technical events both in Italy and abroad.
