GIARDINO BOTANICO ‘CAPLEZ’

Frazione Stadera, Nibbiano (Piacenza)



Il Giardino Botanico ‘Caplez’ situato in Emilia Romagna, nel Piacentino nella sperduta e affascinante località “Cappelluzzo” a 730 m. di altitudine tra Tassara e Stadera nella Val Tidone è agevolmente raggiungibile sia dal versante Piacentino che da quello Pavese (Santa Maria della Versa).
Armoniosamente strutturato coniugando il binomio della scientificità a quello dell’estetica è stato ideato dall’avv. Massimo Cantoni, membro SOI, noto professionista milanese, naturalista e grande appassionato ed esperto botanico. Attorno agli anni 90’ alla passione e all’entusiasmo del fondatore si è aggiunta quella dell’attuale Direttrice Cristina Schindler. La superficie di iniziali 5.000 mq. è andata via via ampliandosi raggiungendo 15.000 mq. nel 2008 e gli attuali 42.000 mq. nel 2014.
Su di un terreno calcareo vengono coltivate circa 3.700 specie e varietà di piante provenienti da tutto il mondo. Numerose le erbacee perenni: Campanula, Centaurea, Eryngium, Salvia, Nepeta, Phlomis, Scutellaria, Sideritis, Penstemon, Echinacea, Potentilla, Papaver e Glaucium, Agastache, Allium, Tanacetum, Helichrysum, Origanum, Thymus, Arenaria, Inula, Onosma, Achillea, Sedum, Stachys, Teucrium, Verbascum. Cura e passione viene dedicata alla coltivazione e moltiplicazione di piante endemiche ed in via di estinzione con la loro reintroduzione in situ. Numerosi gli arbusti presenti: Deutzia, Buddleja, Sophora, Corylus, Cotinus, Viburnum, Cotoneaster, Rubus, Weigela, Paeonia.
Rivestono particolare interesse le due collezioni di Philadelphus e Spiraea, specie e cultivar, che sotto il profilo numerico rappresentano le due più importanti collezioni al mondo.
Il Giardino Botanico ‘Caplez’ è membro della BGCI, SBI e dell’AIGBA e nel novembre del 2013 ha conseguito l’importante imprimatur di membro IPEN. Annualmente viene redatto un Index Seminum ed attivato lo scambio di materiale botanico con oltre 350 Giardini Botanici ed Arboreti in tutto il mondo.
Il Giardino Botanico è visitabile, solo su appuntamento, da fine marzo a fine maggio.

Genus Philadelphus

Shrubs erect, rarely climbing, rarely spinescent . Branchlets opposite. Leaves opposite, exstipulate, veins 3-5, basifugal, margin entire or serrate. Inflorescences racemose, paniculate, or cymose, rarely 1-flowered. Flowers fragrant. Calyx tube campanulate or turbinate, adnate to ovary; lobes 4 (or 5). Petals 4 (or 5), white, contorted. Stamens 13-90; filaments flat, free or basally connate; anthers ovoid or oblong, rarely globose. Ovary inferior or subinferior, 4 (or 5) -loculed; placentation axile; ovules numerous, pendulous. Style (3 or) 4 (or 5) -lobed; stigmas clavate or spatulate. Fruit a capsule, 4 (or 5) -valved, dehiscing by valves; epicarp papery; endocarp corky. Seeds numerous.

About 70 species
: mainly in temperate regions of the N hemisphere; 22 species (17 endemic) in China.
